The website of the National Health Information System (NHIS), maintained by Information Services, provides public access to a total of 100 health reports in 11 categories. Since December 2025, the information in the Statistical Data section of his.bg has been expanded with 29 new reports in three areas: birth rates, mortality rates, and demographic data from national registers. The reports are presented in the form of graphs and are available in Bulgarian and English. The data is updated daily.
Reports from the two new categories Birth Rate and Mortality are based on data submitted by medical specialists in Hospitalizations module of NHIS. Birth Rate category includes information on: number of births, including by gender; distribution by age and region of mothers; mode of delivery; gestational week; weight of newborns; number of births after in vitro procedures, etc.
Mortality category provides an analysis of mortality by place of occurrence - hospital or outpatient setting; mortality within 30 days of discharge; distribution by region and reason for hospitalization; most common causes of death in a hospital setting.
Data from professional association registers category has been enriched with a brand new subcategory containing demographic data on medical professionals. There you can find: number of doctors by age group, including by specialty; distribution by gender, as well as other age characteristics of medical professionals by region.
