More Than 750,000 Health Records Are Now Accessible Through eZdrave

Health records of more than 750,000 citizens are accessible through eZdrave mobile application. The total number of active users has already reached 485,000, while the remaining are linked profiles that allow parents to monitor the health data of their children up to 18 years of age. The data shows that, in the last six months alone, the number of application users has increased by 50%, indicating growing trust in electronic health services and increasingly active use of the capabilities of the National Health Information System (NHIS). The analysis shows that more and more citizens are taking advantage of the opportunity to monitor the information in their own health records and gain more direct access to data about the healthcare services they have received. The most active users are women aged 31 to 50.
The application was created and is being continuously developed by Information Services, a company within the system of the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation (MIDT), as part of the ministry’s policy for convenient and transparent electronic services for citizens.
“eZdrave is becoming a natural part of citizens’ everyday lives and one of the most visible results of the digital transformation of healthcare in Bulgaria,” said Boris Kostadinov, Director of Software Integration at Information Services. According to him, the application has already become the preferred channel for access to electronic health services, saving time, facilitating communication with healthcare professionals, and providing greater transparency and control over personal health records.
Through eZdrave, citizens have full access to the electronic health records registered in the NHIS, including medical examinations, electronic prescriptions, referrals, laboratory tests, vaccinations, and other healthcare data. The application enables users to have their entire medical history available in one place and at any time, directly from their mobile device.
eZdrave can be activated using a qualified electronic signature or a cloud-based electronic signature, as well as at the offices of Information Services, the Regional Health Inspectorates, and the Regional Health Insurance Funds.
The Information Services team continuously enhances the application and adds new functions that benefit patients. The Dental Treatment module is planned for release in October 2026. Through this module, users will be able to view their dental examinations, treatments and procedures, dental status, and other related information.
